India’s Slot Coordination Framework

Step 3: Slot Confirmation
The SCC confirms a slot — either at the requested time or at the nearest available time. For peak periods at VIDP and VABB, the allocated slot may be 1-3 hours away from the requested time.
Step 4: Slot Must Be Complied With
Once a slot is confirmed, the flight must operate within a tolerance window of the allocated time (typically ±15 minutes for arrival, ±10 minutes for departure). Slot violations are tracked and can affect future slot applications.
What Happens When Slots Change?
Flight delays, weather, or ATC flow restrictions can push departure times beyond the slot window. In this case:
- Your flight supervisor immediately notifies ATC and the slot coordinator of the delay
- ATC Flow Management reissues a new departure clearance time (CTOT — Calculated Take-Off Time)
- The supervisor updates you and the crew on the new expected departure window
